FINE ARTS CAMP

Ted Ramsey is The New School’s Artist-in-Residence, and the director and inspiration behind The New School Fine Arts Camp.  Ted’s mentoring of The New School’s fine arts students has become almost legendary in Northern Virginia educational circles. Ted, who spent 20 years as an illustrator, graphic designer and fine artist, helps his students tap into deep wells of originality and creativity with his unique blend of patience, flexibility and artistic knowledge.  Some New School students attend the school simply for the opportunity to study with Ted in the school’s comfortable and challenging environment.

COMPUTER/DIGITAL ARTS CAMP

Shannan Danish, a graduate of George Mason University, is an immensely popular middle school teacher at The New School.  She brings a deeply caring, no-nonsense approach to the creative explorations of students attending the Computer Camp.  Given that The New School is virtually an all Mac environment, her preferred software is iMovie and iDVD for creating, editing and preserving student movie-work. She is also extremely well versed in Flash, particularly in game creation.

Sacha Potter ably assists Shannan. Sacha is a senior at Juniata College in Pennsylvania.  This will be their second year working together after a hugely successful pairing of skills in the 2007 Computer Camp. Sacha (photo gallery) brings extensive experience in digital photography and Photoshop (CS 3) as well as the video software Adobe Premiere.  He has created short video commercials along with their soundtracks and has a detailed knowledge of the Mac operating system.  It is hard to imagine a more competent team to inspire campers to new levels of performance.
