Clothing, Eating, Etc...
- Students are expected to dress appropriately. Generally speaking, a student's dress should not make it more difficult for either a student or a teacher to engage in the learning process. Inappropriate clothing can constitute anything from a display of foul or abusive words to attire that is too revealing. Poor personal hygiene, including extreme dirtiness or body odor, is also inappropriate. A student may be sent home to change clothes or shower if the staff feels it is warranted. Because many classes may have activities that take them outdoors in all but the most inclement weather, students need to arrive at school dressed for the weather.
- The New School provides only microwaves and a small refrigerator, so please plan lunches and snacks accordingly. The High School provides one van run a day (except Wednesdays) to Fair City Mall; the van takes no more than 14 students on a day. Students need to order lunches before school in the morning from 8:40 to 8:55. Students are not allowed to leave campus to go to lunch without permission of the Headmaster. Van riders are not allowed to bring food back from the mall for other students.
- Because we encourage recycling and are conscious of our effect on the environment, we ask that you send in reusable containers if possible. Students are asked to recycle cans and bottles in the appropriate receptacles.
- Students will not be permitted to drive other students on field trips or other school-sponsored outings.
- We are opposed to violence in any form. We ask that you use your best judgment in ensuring that your child does not come to school wearing clothing that depicts violence or violent symbols.
