This document should be read thoroughly and signed by the student and his or her parent(s). By signing this document, parents and students acknowledge that they have read and understood the Handbook and accept its provisions. If the student fails to adhere to these provisions, as outlined briefly in this contract, there will be academic and/or disciplinary consequences. Parents also agree to support their child in adhering to these provisions, by getting them to school on time, providing them with school supplies and supporting teachers and administrators if and when problems arise.

I have freely chosen to attend The New School of Northern Virginia and I will uphold the Spirit of the Classroom.

I agree with the following statements:
• I am committed to working constructively with my teachers and other students toward my high school graduation. I will work hard and conscientiously to make the most of the educational opportunities the school has to offer.
• I have read the student handbook and agree to comply with its provisions. I also understand the consequences of non-compliance and I am willing to accept them.
• I will come to school on time and prepared for class with homework, writing utensils, paper and any other materials I need to participate in class.
• I will treat all members of the community with respect, tolerance, honesty and decency. I will not engage in gossip, put people down, spread rumors or use profanity.
• I will give time and effort to contribute to the overall quality and excellence of The New School and the larger community.
• I will work towards positive change within the structures provided for such change.
